Whirlwind Weekend

This weekend was insanely packed full of appointments, both fun and work-related! I cannot wait to have a moment to relax... tomorrow night.

My parents returned home safely from their trip on Thursday, but I did not move back into my own home until Saturday morning/night. Saturday started at 8 a.m. which is an ungodly hour to rise unless it is to board a plane or frolick on the beach. Breakfast was followed by a piano lesson, which included a new piece to learn called a Rigadoon. (I love saying that.) Piano was followed by a manicure, which was followed by a meeting at the condo.

The condo is coming along nicely! I will have more photos to post as soon as it looks different. Installation of plumbing or electrical doesn't really change the appearance, but is very important on our timeline and checklists.

Finally at shortly before 2:30 p.m., I boarded a streetcar and headed to Exhibition Place for the last two runway shows of The Clothing Show's fall 2011 three-day series. From then on it was hair, make-up quick changes backstage and really nice models. (I gotta say, the girls were amazing! Everyone was really nice at the show.) After sweltering in a wool sweater and shivering in a teeny bikini, Boyfriend came to the rescue (albeit half an hour late, since I was early) and took me home to pizza and de-glittering.

Yeah, all that gold above my eyes is glitter - the kind you can buy and glue to construction paper. Thankfully, mine wasn't glued in place. Which makes me that much happier that my man isn't afraid to hug me lest the glitter transfer:

So, Saturday night, Boyfriend and I officially lugged all my crap out of my car and into my apartment. I was home. 37 pins later and my hair wasn't giving me a migraine and the glitter came off surprisingly easily.

On to Sunday, where I had to do it all again. Off to the Ex, in to hair and make-up and then three runway shows. Woohoo! Although they were all fun, the second show was the funniest. After my fourth change, I headed out to the runway. As I head back to the racks of clothing (which were very close to the runway), I hear my name being called frantically by what I think were all of the dressers. I was suddenly bombarded by pulling off my bottoms and undoing my shoes; one lady pulling off my top, while another covered my face with construction paper (so my make-up wouldn't smudge) while someone else pulled a top over my head. Somehow I got the ridiculously tight pants on and some very special lady managed to zip them (I shudder  think of what my thighs looked like) and I got out to the runway in the nick of time so there was no gap in the show, not to mention record changing time. Praise the dressers!

After that, I was pooped. I was yawning my way through the third and final show. By 5:00 P.M. I was home and ready for a cat nap. (And some liquor). Thankfully Boyfriend helped me unpack later that night, or I'd still be living out of a bunch of bags. This week is going to be more of the same. I'm really looking forward to a quiet weekend.

  1. Wow, now this was an adventure. Heck, I would have stuck around after reading about how crazy it was just to see the outcome.

Glitter...oh boy. At least you wear it well...

    Love,
    Bobby
